Normally by now id be getting very excited. We are mere weeks away from WWE’s annual supershow and I’m feeling very disappointed.
Now I know that injuries can account for a lot of the issues but I’m scratching my head at the awful booking which has resulted in what appears to be, as of right now, one of the most lacklustre cards in recent Wrestlemania history.
For several years WWE have failed to elevate new talent, For this they are now suffering.
Cena is injured and he is getting older, this means he probably wont be able to heal up in record time like he has in the past.
Concussion has ended Daniel Bryans career at a time when his star power will be truly missed.
Orton and Seth Rollins are both out.
By failing to elevate Bray Wyatt or Kevin Owens (the two most talented guys they have in my opinion) through Bad booking WWE have left themselves in a very precarious position. Kevin Owens could have been built as a credible threat to Brock Lesnar and the two could have had a brutal looking match.
The Wyatts are the best example of how bad WWE booking is. Bray single handed built a feud against Undertaker when Taker didn’t turn up until the night of Mania. Bray should have went over that night. I would argue that since he should have ended the streak Not Lesnar the year before. However that’s not all since then Bray has lost feud after feud. To the point where they have made him almost obsolete. At Royal Rumble they planted the seed of a Bray/Brock feud. Since then nothing. WWE bookers seem to have got cold feet and pulled the plug on it. At Fastlane, the worst show in recent WWE history, they lost to Kane, Big Show and Ryback ( a man who’s head looks like my left testicle did just before I had that operation to reduce the swelling). This made ABSOLUTELY no sense. Rynads turned on his partners in a rematch on Raw. So I’m guessing we get some kind of Heel push for him (YAWN). Now there doesn’t seem to be anything planned for the Wyatts. So with very little time to build whatever they plan for them at Mania will be an afterthought. I guess they may get involved in the Thrid annual Andre the Giant Battle Royale which Braun Strowman will win because Vince has a throbbing Viagra induced 70 year old erection for big guys! WWE booking has destroyed any credibility they had and its going to take a lot of work to fix this.
Brock has moved on to Dean Ambrose now in a Streetfight which I think will be an O.K. match but nothing I can get excited about. Ambrose will get squashed and nobody will benefit from this.
Next lets look at the WWE Title match.
Roman Reigns (challenger) V.s. Triple H (champion)
Vince seems determined to get Roman over despite a very vocal portion of the audience booing him on a regular basis. Triple H is going to get cheered despite the fact he is supposed to be ‘the bad guy’. The crowd in attendance is going to shit all over this match. Even the Rock’s inevitable involvement cant help here.
Finally we have the Undertaker facing Shane McMahon in a Hell In a Cell. Now I’m not sure how this is going to play out but it is unbelievable that Shane could beat Taker at Mania when so many others have failed before. so I’m presuming that Shane will pick somebody to fight on his behalf. If CENA heals up in time I would have guessed him. Again though the booking doesn’t make any sense. Undertaker fighting on behalf of Vince would make him the Heel. but who’s going to boo the Undertaker at Mania. I guess Vince could come out with Undertakers Urn and MAKE him fight for him? Normally I would have got excited about Shane coming back but apart from the quick pop any interest I had in this quickly went away.
Oh and apparently Stardust and Green Arrow are feuding again on Twitter and at Comic conventions and since reports suggest Green Arrow is getting into ring shape again we may get that match. It says a lot that I’m more excited by this than any of the matches already announced!
Either way a combination of bad booking and Injuries are making this look like a fucking awful Mania.
I’m guessing I get to see Kevin Owens V.s. AJ Styles (and possibly Chris Jericho making it a triple threat) for the IC title which will steal the show. This match will be awesome. Knocking they like to have that kind of match it may also become a six man ladder match for IC title which I also wouldn’t be unhappy about seeing (dependant on who is in it of course).
I will watch it anyway but I cant find myself getting excited about it. So roll on Wrestlemania. And by god I hope that its better than I’m expecting.
On the bright side Rhonda Rousey may turn up and I’m VERY excited about that in the same way that Vince gets excited by a 6’10 guy with lots of muscles.
